The popular perennial Formula One under-dog, Minardi, will be making a return at several 2007 Grand Prix weekends, but not as prt of the F1 grid. Instead Minardi will now be part of the exciting GP2 series after a merger with the Piquet Sports team.
The Piquet Sports team was set up with the single goal of getting Nelson Piquet Jr. into an F1 seat, a goal it has now acheived, but along the way built a strong GP2 operation. The merger with Minardi will allow that operation to continue and will be combined with Minardi’s experience in a variety of formulas.
