Autosport.com reports that Champ Car championship contender Justin Wilson has had to withdraw from this weekend’s penultimate round of the Champ Car World Series following a “small incident” during practice which left him with a fracture of his scaphoid bone in his right wrist.

As a result the RuSPORT team have withdrawn the #9 car from the event, to be run at Surfers Paradise in Australia, and Wilson’s (albeit slim) championship chances are gone.

“I’m very disappointed because I was looking forward to this weekend,” said Wilson, “it seems hard to believe that such a small incident can put me out for the weekend.”
